You get to be a fly on the wall as this inspiring artist instructs a class, which I found extremely useful. This struck me as a very honest presentation of the process and I learned a great deal.
Excellent book. Very inspiring.
I give it 5 stars . Very informative, on how to set up a still life , lighting and composition. Concludes with brush work .

Ms. Aycock's book is nicely illustrated with lots of practical and insightful information on how to paint still life subjects in the impressionist style. Her years of experience show. Not just another coffee table book.
The pictures are just ok. I did not find any good pointers to use. I was hoping to learn more from it.
In some seen, the camera doesn't follow what the teacher is doing.
Margaret Aycock clearly knows her craft of painting impressionistically and painting the all important "light". If ever you have longed to paint in the style of the Old Master Impressionists, Ms Acock certainly shows the way in an extremely understandable and honestly reachable to her readers style of writing.
